Projects

Places we are building, restoring, and learning from.

Building new Main Streets. Restoring old ones. Both are part of the same mission: make beautiful, useful, lasting places again.

Commonwealth City

The first pilot for the Mainstreet townbuilding system.

A complete, walkable town where normal households can own a real home, live on better streets, and spend less than in a conventional subdivision. Master-planned under the working name New Amsterdam.

Civic restoration

Mainstreet HQ · Historic Bank

A restored civic building, and the home base for the company.

The former First National Bank — a 1920s neoclassical landmark in the Downtown Florence Historic District — restored as Mainstreet's headquarters. Proof that Mainstreet begins with the places we already have: keeping the banking hall, vaults, and stonework while bringing the building back to daily use.

Walkable neighborhoods

West Village

A walkable neighborhood already taking shape.

Homes and apartments above ground-floor shops and restaurants, organized around two community plazas — often called the first walkable neighborhood in The Shoals, and an NAHB Gold Award–winning community. Real proof that people want to live where daily life is close at hand.

Future communities

A repeatable model for beautiful growth.

We are partnering with cities, landowners, builders, and institutions to create new walkable places — and to restore the Main Streets that already anchor their towns.
